Sugar Mill's Tennis
Center, Swimming Pool and Clubhouse sit atop of what
is reputed to be the highest hill in Volusia County.

"Club Front
Entrance"
One enters the
Clubhouse on the upper level into a central lobby.
Turn left and you are admitted to the Main Dining
Room, a spacious expanse that can seat two hundred
guests for a party. The windows on two sides overlook
beautifully landscaped grounds and beyond them the
finishing hole for the Red Nine. Through the Main
Dining room is the Candlelight Room, often used as an
extension of the Main Dining room, but also as a
separate room for private functions. The fireplaces in
both the Main and Candlelight Rooms are particularly
impressive.

"Chefs prepare a
Buffet in the Main Dining Room"
Returning to the lobby and turning right, one enters
the Grill Room. This room, complete with Lounge Bar,
is open for lunch and dinner, hosts the Sunday Brunch
and is the centerpiece of Sugar Mill dining. Here Chef
Mark's culinary masterpieces are sampled and savored.
Through the expanse of windows, one can watch golfers
as they begin and end the Red Nine. Beyond the Grill
Room is the Sunset Patio, a perfect place to enjoy a
drink and watch the spectacular Florida sunsets.

"Members enjoy lunch
in the Grill Room"
The lower level of the Clubhouse features men's and
ladies' locker rooms, equipped with card rooms,
lockers, showers, sauna, steam bath and exercise
equipment. Between the locker rooms is Sugar Mill's
version of the 19th hole. "The Turn"
underwent a major renovation during the summer of 2000
and emerged as a full featured grill room. Here
members enjoy food and drinks while watching the
latest news, an ongoing golf tournament or a football
game on the big screen or other TV's. Daily luncheon
specials ensure that this spot remains one of the most
popular locales at Sugar Mill.
Outside the front door of "The Turn"
is one of Sugar Mill's two putting greens. It's only a
few yards to the full-featured Pro Shop, equipped with
all the golf merchandise an avid golfer could want. An
additional few steps brings one to the Driving Range,
a full 90 yards in width, complete with practice balls
that are free to members.

At Sugar Mill, we
are very pleased and proud to have a Joe Lee designed,
27 hole golf course. The original two nines, (White
and Red), were opened in 1970 and the third, (Blue),
was added in 1984 and substantially reconstructed in
1995. The courses are all Bermuda, but we over seed
with rye grass during the fall to insure the course
stays green all year. Given the sandy Florida soil, we
have good drainage and the not uncommon heavy shower
is only a brief annoyance.
Since we are
limited to 430 golfing memberships, crowding is never
a problem, even in the November through April busy
season. A round at Sugar Mill will not take 5 hours
like some other courses. Our starter has recorded
average turn time for the three nines as follows:
White - 2 hours, Red - 2 hours and one minute and Blue
- 2 hours and 7 minutes.
Since we have three
nines we play them in sequence, i.e. White - Red, Red
- Blue and Blue - White. By doing so we have
essentially created three separate eighteen hole
courses of varying difficulty. Each of us has our
favorite combination. Click on the buttons below to
see the score cards for each course.

Sugar Mill Country
Club not only has one of the top golf courses in
Florida, but also has one of the best tennis
facilities available. Our tennis center is proud of
its four lighted, state-of-the-art, Har Tru tennis
courts, two courts equipped with the new Hydra Court
Watering System.
The tennis center is also proud of the programs and
activities that the USPTA certified professional staff
organizes and implements.

The tennis center
has something for everyone;

The Sugar Mill
USPTA certified teaching staff always uses the latest
teaching aids and techniques to ensure the best
instructional programs available. The instructional
programs that will get you on top of your game include
private instruction for adults and children, lesson
packages, and group instruction.
The tennis center also has a full service pro shop
(with racquet stringing and re-gripping available),
and a ball machine for the members to use.

"Clubhouse
Complex and portions of all three nines"

Sugar Mill is a
unique community. We are inside the city limits of New
Smyrna Beach, ensuring that we have city fire and
police services. However, we're tucked away in a
corner of the city that is still mostly rural. Most
importantly, Sugar Mill is an established community.
What you see is what you get; there will be no
developer surprises. Building lots are still
available, but they are scattered throughout the
community so no one section has to put up with
constant truck traffic and construction noise. The
architectural review committee of the Sugar Mill
Association insures that any construction that is done
meets our standards. Resales of existing homes are
available. In addition to the City police services, we
have our own Security Service, manning 24-hour gates
at our two entrances as well as providing a roving
patrol.

"East
Gate"
A large portion of
our Club membership maintains a second home elsewhere,
but approximately 50% are full time residents. The
homes available within Sugar Mill will allow either
option and will suit any taste.

"Pine
Valley Golf Villas"
Included within
Sugar Mill are several sub-communities of varying home
size and amenities. Pine Valley is a complex of
golf villas, each with its own golf cart garage and
connected by golf cart paths to the rest of the
complex. The Brae Burn Villas are slightly
larger, but have the same connection with each other
and the remainder of Sugar Mill by extensive cart
paths. The homes of the St. Andrews complex are
still larger yet, but clustered in a beautifully
landscaped oval tucked into the golf course. Each of
these areas has its own community pool.

"Brae Burn Villa"
Finally, the homes
of the Meadows complex are the largest of the several
sub-communities. Several of these approach 3500
square feet. Landscape maintenance service is
another feature of each of these areas.

"One
of the Meadows Homes"
The remainder of
the community consists of custom built single-family
homes. There are no two alike. A large number of these
homes enjoy a private swimming pool, but the Club's
large, heated pool is always available to members.
Landscape maintenance contractors are plentiful and
relatively inexpensive. All of the custom homes are
but a short drive away from the extensive golf cart
trail system, so many members do without a second car
and allow the golf cart to serve within the community.
